Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and your rights.
- We do not ask for your name or email.
- Your quiz answers and notes stay in your browser.
- Retailers you click through to have their own privacy policies.
This policy explains what happens to your information when you use The Sports Equipment Guide at sportsequipmentguide.com. The short version: we do not ask for your name or email, and the answers you give the racket tool stay in your browser.
Who we are
The person responsible for your data (the “controller”) is Rory Hextall, trading as The Sports Equipment Guide, 39 Barlings Road, Harpenden, AL5 2AW. Contact: hello@sportsequipmentguide.com.
What we collect
- Your quiz answers and notes. These are processed in your browser to produce your list. They are not sent to us, not stored on our servers and not shared with anyone.
- Technical logs. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use this to identify you.
- Emails you send us. If you write to us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or sign-up forms at the moment. If that changes we will update this page first.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
To run and secure the site we rely on our legitimate interests. To answer your emails we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to you.
Links to other sites
When you click through to a retailer, you leave our site. The retailer and any affiliate network involved may use cookies or similar tools to record that we sent you, so we can be credited for a sale. Their privacy policies apply from that point.
How long we keep it
Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your query, normally no more than two years. Hosting logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period under its own policy.
Who we share it with
Our hosting provider and email provider process data for us. We do not sell your data.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use. Email hello@sportsequipmentguide.com. If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We will post any changes here and update the date at the top.
